Just Sent No.57
I would never have bought these shorts had my skirt not ripped within seconds of getting downtown. So, I have an incredible vintage skirt to thank for this discovery. This was a purchase based on reality, every way you look at it. At first, I tried on the white, “done,” I thought, and walked myself through the countless times I’d already spilled in the last few hours. “Do they come in black?” I was lucky, as you hope to be when you rip your skirt up the front, they had my size. I’ll be honest, I would truly have never bought these had I not been in a pinch, but I’ve worn them almost daily since.
Apart from my perfume of the season, I like to bring samples with me on trips. When my sister moved to England, it was Little Flower. It reminds me of walking around Cambridge for the first time, Moves by Suki Waterhouse, and the subtle yet emotional excitement of sending her on her way as an adult. This trip, I plan on taking samples from Le Père, either Oui Monsieur or 1ER.
I can count on one hand the purses I’ve bought for myself (excluding my collection of Bermuda bags and covers, which has now amassed to around 20). Purses usually come to me as gifts from Walker, who seems to have a knack for finding the right one. Most recently, a souvenir from his trip to Copenhagen for design week was this LIÉ STUDIO navy raffia tote. It fulfills all my requirements: a strap that fits over my shoulder, fits my computer, and is neutral.
There are two types of summer outfits: fitted and flowy. On flowy days, I reach for my linen J.Press shirt. A purchase I made two years ago, like above, in a pinch. I wear it as a cover-up at the beach, with denim shorts upstate, and right now, with my Donni pants I can’t seem to take off. I wear a size M for an oversized fit.
The real test for mascara is whether you can cry in it or wear it while standing in the pool. You can do both in this new one from Merit!
Gracie and I have this ongoing conversation about clothes we would wear if we weren’t ourselves. Nightgowns are one of those items for me. I can imagine sliding into a perfectly chintzy canopy bed, in a room where the wallpaper matches, wearing a crisp white nightgown. She’s the same version of fake me that wears Manolo’s casually in the city. If I were that version of myself, I’d have this from Nuisette. They sent me a code; they could probably sense my hesitation: LULU10.
A few things I’m enjoying:
The Land and Its People by David Sedaris, but the audiobook where he reads it himself.
The Merlin Bird ID app if you’re sitting in your backyard or in the park. Walker and I found a nest in the garden and had to identify the type. Grey Catbird, if you were wondering.
