Just Sent No.33
A skirt inspired by upholstery, and another skirt that reminds me of flannel sheets.
Last week was an exciting week in our house because on Thursday, Walker officially opened the Symbol showroom in New York City. It’s by appointment only; he’s working on setting that up, so in the meantime, if you want to stop by, send me a message!

We’ve reached the point in the winter where tights have become both my best friend and my enemy. For the best friend portion, my cashmere tights are everything and more (warm, comfortable, decent-looking), and for the enemy portion, nothing looks good with tights. As a result, I’ve decided to only wear long skirts and tall boots so you can’t see the tights. It’s become a slightly more difficult task than I imagined, given that I’m 5’7” (I don’t feel tall until I’m standing on the subway during rush hour), so most skirts are too short. I bought this skirt expecting to have to return it and was excited when that wasn’t the case. It’s warm (flannel), fits well, and works with my cowboy boots!
For the last few months, all of the influencers I follow have been raving about Cyklar. I’m a skeptic, but I kept seeing it from various people. The santal Body Oil is my favorite so far, and my trick is to mix it with Soft Services Speed Soak. I’ve talked about Soft Services so much that if you haven’t purchased it yet, you’re missing out. The consistencies are the same and I like the scent (reminds me of something from a BirchBox in the early 2010s… but I will admit, it’s very strong so mix it). Another combination that works well is the Carea Cream and the body cream. Both combinations will have you looking forward to moisturizing after you shower; imagine that!
No.6 just stocked my favorite summer heels. My mom has this pair, and I borrow them all the time. They usually sell out pretty quickly, so if you can think of warmer days (pretty easy when it feels like -13 outside), you’ll thank yourself later.
I’d wear this caftan with the shoes above on a warm summer day. I like the navy as well with brown cowboy boots.
I can’t really explain my excitement when I saw they re-released the Nike Waffle Racers. Growing up, I ran track and XC, had an obsession with Steve Prefontaine (as a young runner does), and thus, have always loved the waffle racer. To top it all off, my mom grew up running and coaching, so this was her shoe when she was little. It’s great, in every way.

"To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" I wanted to use this for a while before I talked about it because if there is one thing people are skeptical about when it comes to beauty, it’s celebrity beauty brands. I bought Rhode lip gloss the day it came out, but after that never tried anything else. I came across a few people mixing this into foundation, and the results, even on Instagram, were lovely (to me, that just means natural). I was convinced and decided to get the travel size to try. I’m sold; I’m going to buy the large size.
I’ve liked these little soda drinks for a while now, but Walker got a few cases at the showroom, and they’ve quickly become my drink of choice.
I like that this skirt looks like upholstery fabric, which made it the perfect choice to celebrate the opening of Walker’s new showroom on Bowery. I paired it with a turtleneck from Henri, my mom’s Helmut Lang boots from the early 2000s, and my grandmother’s handbag.
If I had to describe my style, I’d say it’s partly to look like a Southern baby. I love, and have always loved, smocking. A few years ago, I bought a smocked blouse (for an adult) and wore it all summer, styling it with unexpected pieces like Carhartt’s or trashed denim.
Two weeks ago, I got the chance to meet Pip Durell, the founder of With Nothing Underneath, at an event hosted by my friends Georgie and Julia. While they don’t have a store in the US yet, WNU has been a staple in the UK. I got the Boyfriend Shirt, a classic poplin number. This boiled wool jacket seems just right when you remember that jacket weather doesn’t end for months.
A few things I’m enjoying:
I’ve decided to order more items from Grove to limit my money spent at larger corporations.
I’m also going to try Farm To People.
I did buy the insulated Blundstones and can confirm that if you don’t already have a winter boot, it’s a good one. I put them to the test over the weekend in what felt like -15.
This Manicurist color is my most used. I like the subtle shimmer. Great for cold pale hands.
Pesto in soup. I first realized that this magical combination exists in The Lost Kitchen cookbook. The New York Times just posted a recipe that’s similar and Walker made it for dinner. It’s a good reminder that you can add pesto to any soup, and it makes it delicious.
I’m tempted to buy this new Summer Fridays set.
I brought back a covid series from when this was a blog called Sustainably Sourced. I found 16 pairs of cowboy boots!

I love that flannel skirt so much--it's been on my wishlist for ages. I'm glad to hear the review!
Can you tell me how those Martiniano heels fit? TTS? Thanks!
