When Ann Mashburn first opened her shop, she sold Porselli ballet flats. At the time, they were impossible to find, and despite the internet ruining everything, they’re still somehow difficult to find. Alex Mill (who has recently brought in every out-of-country brand I wear) started selling them. The white reminds me of these photos:
If you’re not within walking distance of a BonBon and are looking for an addition to your Easter basket, look no further. All the flavors are delicious.
I find it difficult to write with music playing (I like to sing along) and prefer something instrumental; this mix is great and relatively upbeat (as far as this sort of thing goes).
I saw this brand in Paris and was drawn to the underwear. It came as no surprise to find out that they also made smocked nightgowns. Not something I wear, but something I love.
I’ve been taking a break from buying things. Instead, I’ve turned my attention to the items that I already own, taking perfect pants to the tailor to become even more perfect. In this little Lent adjacent test, I’ve been focusing on items that come up out of necessity. The small crossbody bag is a leftover want from last year, which makes it even more convincing this year. This bag still seems to be the best option.
Not the best time to suggest you eat eggs, or maybe, the best time to suggest something that will make your eggs feel worthy of $12. I can’t go a day without eggs in some form, a realization I had while standing in front of the empty egg display. I sulked over to the breakfast aisle (I’ve never been a fan of granola; it feels like a chore) and bought rice cakes (punishment) and almond butter. The entire day felt out of whack, and I knew it was the rice cake–obviously, it’s always the rice cake. Walker makes us a frittata every morning, so eggs are necessary.
In Paris, right next to a bakery that Devon recommended, there is a Carel sample store. If you’re a size 7, it would be your favorite place. While there I was convinced to get a pair of Carel’s in a fun color (I’ll probably get the burgundy in the fall). They’re timeless, despite the rise and fall of the trends.
I decided to ignore the fact that this eye mask is ugly and add it here anyway because the truth is this is one of my most used items. If you live with someone, you’re likely not falling asleep with the lights off at the exact same time (if you are, how?). I started using this mask about a year ago and I haven’t looked back–even considering how ugly it is, there is nothing that compares.
I first learned about these from Bretts Bites, who coined the term “dessert bowl,” essentially a bowl of little sweet snacks that she’d have at some point during the day. I love a sweet little snack, so this spoke to me. I’d never paid attention to the milk chocolate quinoa crisps after exclusively eating quinoa bowls with Walker in Maine during covid. I took a break and haven’t really looked back (it’s not that good, be honest), until these little crisps! They are really good.
I’ve mentioned these pants before, and like the Elisabeth Jean, they’re worth it. If you haven’t realized this yet, I’m very passionate about pants and have a few qualifications for what makes them good. They must be well made (I want to wear them for years), sturdy (no denim or canvas pants should be thin and flimsy; leave that for cotton), and they must fit well (this is subjective).
