I've been in England moving my sister into grad school the last few days and have amassed a nice collection of home notes. I write articles and emails about interiors for work, but I have yet to fully share that side of my interest here outside of “Just Saved.” A little, of course, but here is yet another series (This is what Substack is for, right? Spontaneity?). Initially, I had written a post to publish when I was out of town, but after being bombarded with new ideas, I decided to hit pause and work on a post that felt more aligned with my feelings and interests at this exact moment.

I’ve spent the last year and, in retrospect, the early stages of my life enamored with interiors. My mom and I would go to the interior fabric store in Atlanta, and I would take a pair of special scissors from the front and carefully walk around the store, cutting samples for my doll house. Later, every night before bed, I would take an interior magazine from the stack in the hallway to read. The list goes on — notebooks filled with make-believe floor plans, a particular architecture project in 4th grade, and so on. Until recently, I hadn’t allowed myself to dive into interior design and share it. Let me be clear: I am not an interior designer, but I love to write about it and find pieces, so that’s what this will be: some notes on the ideal home.
